Damascus: Stateless people denied medical care
KURDWATCH, June 4, 2010—At least two hospitals in Damascus, the private hospital al‑Bayruni and the university hospital al‑Muwasat, refuse to treat maktumin (unregistered stateless people). Moreover, one case is known in which the al‑Bayruni Hospital, which specializes in cancer treatment, refused medical care to an ajnabi (registered foreigner). For more information on the situation of stateless Kurds, see the report »Stateless Kurds in Syria—Illegal invaders or victims of a nationalistic policy?« [Download PDF]
